Thematically Unhinged.

1990, 2015,
A litany of fire in the East.

This road leads into the city
In Which History
Is Seen to Repeat
Itself Endlessly;
And blessed are the meek.

(give me your tired)

A Magic Scroll to fend off evil,
for the use of those whose
roof is the sky.

(give me your poor)

An endless procession of
refugees passes through Europe towards our city

(give me your huddled masses)

You cannot stay here, we say.
This is our city.
There is no room even on
our streets, they are full
of our own homeless,
the poor, the lame, the sick.

Buy from me this scroll, refugee,
and in another city,

it will shelter you from the cold

1990, 2015,
A litany of fire in the East.

This road leads out of the city,
In Which History
Is Seen to Repeat
Itself Endlessly. To
Repeat Itself Endl
essly.
To Repeat:
This road leads out of the city.
